FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPOKANE: Symphony on the Edge will present a new program on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Big Easy Concert Hall. Last year's sold out concert left the audience with a new energetic, exciting perspective of the Spokane Symphony. This year, Associate Conductor Morihiko Nakahara is preparing exciting new music with an edge.
The short selections include selections by 20th century American composers Samuel Barber and John Adams, music from three film scores by famous Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu, and one by Ruth Crawford Seeger, stepmother of singer/songwriter Pete Seeger.
Nakahara and the almost 50-piece orchestra will break the rules of dress and leave their tuxedo's at home, wearing jeans and polo shirts. You are invited to grab refreshments and listen to exciting music chosen to stimulate and excite the listener. .
Concert lighting, video close-ups of the conductor and the orchestra will complete the rock-music atmosphere of this popular Spokane nightclub.
The all-ages non-smoking performance will include seating for all ticket holders. Refreshments will be available for this general admission concert. Tickets are just $29 each. Due to demand, Symphony on the Edge will be performing two concerts, Oct. 13 and May 4. Both concerts can be purchased in a package for $50.
