Upcoming events for the Spokane Symphony and Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox through the end of January 2012 include:

Spokane Youth Symphony: Far, Far Away

The Spokane Youth Symphony will continue their “Happily Ever After” season with “Far, Far Away” at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. The concert will be conducted by Julián Gómez Giraldo, the new Artistic Director of the Spokane Youth Symphony who was chosen to replace Verne Windham. Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for senior, and $12 for children 17 and under.

Spokane Symphony Classics: Heroes and Legends

The Spokane Symphony will play a program of legendary music under the baton of Morihiko Nakahara on Saturday, January 28 at 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, January 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Internationally renowned pianist Martina Filjak will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20. Other music selections include Rossini’s William Tell Overture, known in pop culture as the theme from “The Lone Ranger,” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica,” which was originally dedicated to the ideals of the French Revolution—liberty, equality and brotherhood. A pre-concert talk about the music will be held in the hall one hour before each performance. This concert is recommended by Eckart for Symphony YES! Tickets start at $14. Children’s tickets are $10. This concert will feature a special salute to the military; active duty and retired military may purchase $15 tickets in advance at Tickets and Travel at Fairchild Air Force Base or at the Fox Box Office, 1001 W. Sprague. This concert is underwritten by the Hotel Ruby & Sapphire Lounge.

Looking Ahead:

Spokane Symphony Pops: America’s Favorite Cowboys - Riders in the Sky

Riders in the Sky celebrate their thirtieth anniversary of serving up cowboy music, complete with their own legendary wacky humor and way-out wit, by performing with the Spokane Symphony under the baton of Morihiko Nakahara at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices begin at $25. This concert is underwritten by Latah Creek Wine Cellars.

Announcing a new Spokane Symphony Special: The Brothers Cazimero

The Brothers Cazimero, legends of Hawaiian music, will perform with the Spokane Symphony, conducted by Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:00 p.m. Their musical talent, incredible showmanship and infectious humor have bridged cultural gaps that naturally exist with ethnic music and dance. They will be accompanied by four hula dancers. Ticket prices begin at $20, $12 for children.
