Christmas is around the corner, and that means it is time for the perennial family favorite Holiday Pops Celebration, featuring Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara and the Spokane Symphony on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. This concert includes all the traditions of the Holiday Pops, guaranteed to get you and yours into the festive mood, including the majestic sounds of the Spokane Symphony Chorale, the pure tones of the Spokane Area Children’s Chorus, the orchestra playing a fabulous selection of festive music, old and new, the popular Sing-Along, and of course, a visit from Santa.
To add to your concert experience, the chefs from Glover Mansion have developed special seasonal refreshments, including a luscious Polar Bear Hot Chocolate that will be on sale before the concert and during intermission. DETAILS In addition, the Theater Gift Shop, located in the North Gallery of the lobby, will have a variety of items including the beautiful Fox ornament, hand crafted by Old World Christmas, and our new Nutcracker Suite Blend from Roast House Coffee. This tasty blend comes in reusable glass jars designed especially for gift-giving. The nutcracker on the label is winking because he knows this coffee is heavy on the chocolate, with a hint of hazelnut and dried fruit. DETAILS
The concert includes wide variety of Christmas tunes from traditional to modern, sacred to secular. The Chorale will be lending their incredible voices to Bass’ A Feast of Carols and will be joined by the Children’s Chorus to perform “Dormi, Jesu” (Daley), Shepherd’s Pipe Carol (Rutter) and The Twelfth Elf (Fry). With the holiday atmosphere firmly in place, the Spokane Symphony will deliver a selection of instrumental pieces, including Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Tumblers” from Snow Maiden, music from The Polar Express, and of course, “Sleigh Ride,” conducted by Santa himself. An audience sing-along and plenty of holiday magic will wrap up the concert. CLICK TO SEE MORIHIKO AND SANTA TALKING ABOUT THE CONCERT, A PLAYLIST AND OTHER DETAILS.
