Spokane Symphony’s Casual Classics’ CSI Spokane series has provided some fun and interesting programs this year. Resident Conductor Morihiko Nakahara and a wind quartet from the orchestra will explore Mistaken Identities this Friday, April 8 at 8 p.m. at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.
Mozart wrote his Sinfonia Concertante to showcase four famous wind players from the great orchestra of Mannheim. You’ll be captivated by our own Spokane virtuosos in their place: Bruce Bodden, flute; Keith Thomas, oboe; Lynn Feller-Marshall, bassoon; and Jennifer Scriggins Brummett.
Of all Haydn’s symphonies, his 60th was played the most during his lifetime. Like his 18th-century audiences, you’ll be intrigued by its unusual six-movement form.
Grove’s Encyclopedia says of the Respighi that it “combined a typically Respighian colouristic variety with a crisp clarity of sound” in “a particularly happy phase” of his music.
Tickets for C.S.I. Spokane: Mistaken Identities are $10, $20, and $30. Tickets are available in advance at the Spokane Symphony Ticket Office, located at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, 1001 W. Sprague, or by calling 509-624-1200. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.spokanesymphony.org Tickets are also available at all TicketsWest outlets or by calling 1-800-325-SEAT.
