Link Up Program –

in partnership with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute

Link Up, a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, pairs orchestras across the country with students in grades 3–5 at schools in their local communities to explore orchestral repertoire through a hands-on music curriculum. Students participating in Link Up attend a culminating concert where they sing and play recorder with the orchestra from their seats. Students also compose and perform their own pieces inspired by the orchestral music they studied.

Since 2003, Carnegie Hall has partnered with local, professional, community, and university orchestras to offer Link Up at sites across the United States. Through this partnership, Carnegie Hall aims to support orchestras’ existing education programs, strengthen their partnerships with local schools, and provide the highest quality curricula, resources, professional development, and other support.

Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute provides each student with a workbook to study with their music teachers (or classroom teacher).  The Spokane Symphony performs the interactive Link Up concert at Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. 

		Your School receives at no additional cost:  Link Up curriculum guide for teachers (featuring lessons on singing, playing the soprano recorder, reading and notating music, and composing and improvising music) CD and DVD resources that accompany the curriculum for each teacher Link Up workbooks for each student Professional development webinar for lead teachers Access to Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institutes’ Online Resource Center with additional lessons and resources, including Link Up THE ORCHESTRA ROCKS, a skills-focused curriculum with audio for teachers and students Access to the Link Up Online Community, which connects teachers, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute Staff, and featured contributors to share ideas, student work, videos and photos The Spokane Symphony provides:  An interactive Link Up Concert featuring the orchestra, conductor and participating Link Up students Link Up teacher professional development workshop(s) and direct support for participating local teachers Your School provides:  Transportation to and from the Link Up Concert  Recorders for students to participate in the curriculum

Teachers: please reserve your tickets for students and parents, if any, as a GROUP before the deadline.  After March 29, 2013, seats will be assigned and late purchasers will not be guaranteed seating with your group.

Parents: to ensure seating with your student, you MUST reserve your ticket before the deadline. After March 29, 2013, seats with your student’s school cannot be guaranteed.
